Podcast and Chill celebrates 1 million subscribers
It feels like it was yesterday when a special black edition of Grandeur Gin got released to commemorate reaching 500 000 subscribers, known as Chillers, on the Podcast and Chill YouTube channel.
Time flies and now the biggest podcast in Africa is celebrating reaching another milestone of 1 million subscribers by having an event at the SunBet Arena on the 30th of July. The channel continues to deliver content that the average South African can relate to, while also engaging in conversations of our daily experiences.
It's first episode got uploaded on July 2018, and during it's 5 year span the show has inspired many to air their content on YouTube.
As a chiller myself, I got drawn to the show due to the host's ability, Mac G, to bring us closer to some of our celebrities.
I remember the very first episode I tuned into during 2020, which was an interview with legendary actor, Israel Matseke Zulu. Besides some of his television roles I was familiar with, I did not know who he was but after his interview I had a better understanding on who he was and what his path to our screens was like.
Celebrity interviews that followed opened my eyes on how great South Africans are and thanks to Podcast and Chill, I got introduced to legends such as John Kani, Connie Chiume and Lebo M.
Currently the channel is pushing barriers by putting out content similar to traditional television channels. On Monday there is the Monday show with Mac G, Sol Phenduka and the Ghost Lady engaging on current affairs. Tuesdays there's Dineo Ranaka with her show Dineo On Sex n Stuff. Wednesdays there is Mpho Popps, Robot Boii and Tsitsi Chiumya on Popcorn and Cheese. Thursdays it's Mac G and Sol Phenduka interviewing a celebrity guest. Sundays there is a new show for Gen Z titled Spreading Humor.
